In Default on Your NJ CLASS Loans? Being Sued by HESAA or Getting Letters from Lawyers? I May Be Able to Get Your Loans Back on Track!

When you went to college you had a plan on how you were going to pay for it. But when you maxed out your federal loans and grants, you were told that New Jersey's CLASS loans were a great way to fill the cost of attendance gap. But after you graduated you found out you owed far more than you borrowed, and HESAA was demanding a huge, unaffordable payment.

But what do you do now?

Does Any of This Sound Familiar?

  • You struggled for months to make they payments, but couldn't
  • You begged HESAA to work with you for a lower payment, but they wouldn't
  • You ended up in default, and now your credit took a hit
  • Your tax refunds have been taken away
  • Then, to add insult to injury, HESAA sues you to collect

If any of these scenarios sound all too familiar, contact me today by scheduling a call!

What Can You Do About Your HESAA Loans?

If you are being sued on the loan(s) by Portnoy Schneck, LLC, John Grogan, Fein Such Kahn & Sheppard, or the Ratchford Law Group, I have some good news! I have had a great deal of success in negotiating affordable payment plans with these firms on behalf of my clients, and getting their loans back on track (often without a judgment being entered against them and at a 0% interest rate)! In a great many cases I have also been able to protect the cosigner as well.

Debt collection attorneys can be very aggressive and difficult to negotiate with. Getting them to accept an affordable payment yourself can be very difficult, if not impossible. But the good news is:

  • I started my career as a creditor collections attorney, so I know all the players, and I speak "Collector"
  • I know what they can, and more importantly, can't, do to collect from you
  • I am fully familiar with HESAA's settlement guidelines
  • I have a good relationship with, and have successfully made deals with, all four of HESAA's collection law firms
  • I only take on clients whom I honestly believe have a very good chance of making a deal for an affordable payment

Don't Wait Too Long to Take Action! That Can Make Things Way Worse!

One mistake I see way too many people make is waiting too long to take action. This can make things way worse than they are! Once HESAA sues you and gets a judgment, they can:

  • Garnish Your Wages. Forget getting an affordable payment plan! They're going to take money out of your pocket whether you can afford it or not!
  • Levy on Your Bank Account. Without warning, they can freeze all of your money, making checks bounce and keeping you from being able to pay your bills!
  • Get a Judgment Lien. Own a home and want to sell it now or in the future? HESAA will be at the closing with their hand out to be paid because they recorded the judgment as a lien against your home. There goes the money you were going to get for yourself or a downpayment on a new home. Looking to buy a home some day? That lien will crop up and could keep you from getting approved for a mortgage!
